Title:   Mug Fragment: Patterned

Description:   Flat base of a large tankard.
Brown on buff.
ADDENDA 2018: Single sherd to a large mug with splaying concave base. There are no other features preserved.
The exterior is decorated with two medium bands at the junction of the wall and the base. The bottom of the base is decorated with a medium band at the junction with the wall. In the central tondo, there is a running spiral and pictorial motif -- likely a fish.
The interior is monochrome as preserved.
The paint is somewhat thin, but fairly evenly applied, fired brown. There are slight traces of use-wear on the resting surface of the base, but no evidence of burning.
