ΤΙΤΛΟΣ:   Λύχνος με ανάγλυφη παράσταση των Λύτρων του Έκτορα Mέσα 3ου αι. μ.Χ.

Description:   Mended from many pieces; a few fragments of rim, nozzle and wall restored in plaster; chips missing.
Large lamp with double-pierced handle, double grooved above and below. Rim panelled, with stamped ovules. Reverse flat, outlined by two circular grooves, enclosing the signature.
Discus, relief representations of Priam appealing to Achilles; helmet in exergue below. Behind Achilles (seated left, but with head turned back and resting on raised left hand), a veiled female figure. Kneeling at Achilles' feet, and clasping his right hand, Priam. Behind him, a nude youth standing left, holding a horse; the youth also mourns, with right hand raised to mouth.
Pinkish-buff clay.

ΠΕΡΙΓΡΑΦΗ:   Ενεπίγραφος Ρωμαϊκός λύχνος, τύπου XXVII, με ανάγλυφη παράσταση Πριάμου και Αχιλλέως. Λείπουν θραύσματα από το χείλος και το μυκτήρα του ευρήματος (3ος αιώνας μ.Χ).
Context:   East continuation of House D, Room 1, on floor. From the floor of a house on the N.E. slope of the Hill of Nymphes, dating in 267 A.D.
