Title:   West Chamber

Description:   The West Chamber of a double cistern lying between the northeast corner of the Theseion and the Annex to the Stoa of Zeus Eleftherios. ... Both chambers went out of use as water containers simultaneously and served for a short time as refuse dumps ... this occurred in Hellenistic times ... The mouth of the western chamber must have been closed for many centuries: above the cone of Hellenistic rubbish the filling was solid Byzantine. [Hesperia 3 (1934), p. 345]. Hell. Group C.
