Inventory Number:   A 2984
Section Number:   Ι 1657
Title:   Architrave Backer: Doric
Category:   Architecture Marble
Description:   Broken at right end, otherwise fresh. In top an original cutting for a double T-clamp to join this with the next backer; a replacement in the form of a cutting for a Π-clamp; a cutting for a Π-clamp 0.21m. from right and leading back; a pry-hole 0.40m. from right end.
Excellent original anathyrosis on end and lower edge. Tolling of top may be from reuse. Clearly a block of the 5th or 4th c. B.C. later reused.
The clamp cutting and tooling suggest association with triglyph A 2977 in the original period of both blocks.
Pentelic marble.
