Title:   Architrave Backer: Doric

Description:   Taenia all broken away; left end preserved. Right end seems to have been cut back a few centimeters (the clamp cutting is only 0.06m. as compared with 0.13m. at the other end). Cuttings for Π-clamp at both ends. One pry-hole in top. Poor anathyrosis on left end and lower edge of back. Rough bosses left on face, near lower edge, toward ends. (Cf. Market of Caesar and Augustus.)
Presumably a supplement to the series of A 2984 and A 2985 added in the Roman period.
Pentelic marble.

Context:   In west face of Late Roman Fortification just north of tower at S.W. corner of Library of Pantainos.
