Description: | Two joining fragments of monument base corner block with only small chips missing from original surface. Above a plinth the moldings ascend and step back toward the interior in the order of toros, square fillet, upside down cyma reversa, toros, square fillet, apophyge. The left end has anathyrosis while the back is very rough-picked. The upper surface has three dowel holes with pour channels and two lewis holes. There is also, between the left and the center dowel holes, a smaller and shallower square cutting of indeterminate purpose. Pentelic marble. | |

Context: | From between Panathenaic Way and east end of Middle Stoa. This block, like A 3733-3739, appears to have been removed from the northern tower of the Late Roman Fortification Wall at the south end of the Stoa of Attalos. It was recovered from the marble pile left by the excavations of the 1860's and set in its present position in the early 1950's. | |
