Flat-topped rim; walls nearly vertical above, rounded below; spreading ring foot. A broad stripe of glaze crosses the rim at the points of the handle-attachments.

Type common in late archaic contexts; for a standard lekane from the same well-filling see 1784, Pl. 83. A close match to 1825, P 27104, probably from the same shop, was found in the 1963 excavations on the Areopagus along with an example of the common variety, P 27105, having the same flaring foot. The rim is tightly rolled. P 27105 could stand between 1783 and 1784, Pl. 83. A date of ca. 500 B.C. for the making of the Areopagus two and the others closely related seems likely.
