Plastic Vessel Or Attachment: African.

Face preserved, broken all around.

Fleshy face. Head probably turned slightly to left. Dionysiac fillet over brow painted white. Orange on hair and eyebrows, eyes sketchily outlined in orange and irises painted white. A thick lock of hair or bunch of grapes over right temple. Back slightly concave, unglazed, with fingerprints. Possibly a plastic attachment but more likely a plastic vase. Metallic black glaze.

Cf. Paphos III, no. 27, p. 101, pl. III:16, from what is probably a 3rd-century context. For other representations of Africans see 1360.
