P 10871 a, b

Two nonjoining fragments: neck and upper body, with much of shoulder and part of rim restored (a); fragment of body (b: not illustrated).

Very rounded shoulder. Two grooves at base of neck, one at handle attachment, framing decorative zone. Cylindrical neck, flaring at top, with two glazed grooves at upper handle attachment. Slightly downturned rim. Rope handle flanked by knobs at upper attachment.

Ghost of wreath on neck, opposite handle. On shoulder, ivy garland with incised stems. Hard, fine, very micaceous, light red fabric (2.5YR 6/6) with white inclusions; gritty red glaze (2.5YR 5/6), with spalling, interior not completely glazed.
