Wall fragment of pyxis with flange for lid. Much of the glaze has pitted, especially at the top. P.H. 0.108; est. diam. 0.14.

Women and Eros. Eros stoops to left about to put a fillet around the head of a woman (left forearm with bracelet, left hand, lap) seated before him. Below Eros is a chest with dots on its lid. At the right, another woman (left arm, part of legs missing) stands frontally, looking to left, holding a scarf in her upraised right hand. Around her head is a fillet, and she wears a peplos, an earring, and a necklace. The undecorated surface of the seated woman's garment indicates that it was painted; no trace of color preserved. Dilute glaze: hair. Added clay: jewelry, fillet, dots on black border of peplos; edges of wings; dots on chest. White: flesh of Eros and of seated woman (flaked).

Similar to and perhaps by the same hand as the pyxis found at Rhamnous (ArchReports for 1988--1989, p. 18, fig. 13).
