Lid, preserved except for knob and large chip in brim. Unglazed on underside, except for two concentric circles with central dot. P.H. 0.023; diam. 0.112.
From knob out: egg pattern with dots and double outlines; upright encircled palmettes, interrupted once by a double lotus; black band; on brim, egg pattern with dots and double outline.
Compared by Beazley (ARV2 1224, ---) with the floral on the lid of a pyxis Type B, Brussels A 3547. The system of decoration on 1015 bears some similarity to that on Munich 2722 by the Montlaurès Painter (ARV2 1296, 26; Addenda 359). There, however, the palmettes are diagonally addorsed, but, like 1015, most of the fronds do not have rounded ends. For the egg pattern with double outline, see 691.
