Floor fragment with ring base. Grooved on underside with broad concentric bands. Max. dim. 0.07.

Woman (legs enveloped in a chiton and himation) seated to right on a klismos (legs, seat). Small reserved exergue. Relief contour.

Probably by the Washing Painter or in his manner. The seat of the klismos, terminating in a point in front, either horizontal or tipping upward, is a favorite of this painter. Examples: Athens, N.M. inv. 14790 (ARV2 1126, 4); Athens, N.M. inv. 14791 (ARV2 1126, 5); Copenhagen inv. VIII 153 (ARV2 1131, 161; Addenda 333); and Mykonos, no no., which is akin to the painter (ARV2 1135, ---, 1). The klismos on 1187 is closest to the last. For the drapery, see that of the seated woman on New York, M.M.A. X.22.17 (ARV2 1132, 183) and that of the bride seated on the bed on Würzburg H 4445 = 541 (ARV2 1133, 196; Addenda 333).
