Two non-joining fragments, P 20074 of lip and bowl. Top of rim reserved. Part of the glaze on P 20074 has a greenish cast; some of the glaze lines on the himation on P 17531 flaked. Max. dim. P 17531: 0.051; P 20074: 0.056. H. A. Thompson, Hesperia 17, 1948, pl. 68:2 (P 17531).

P 17531 shows a youth (head, shoulders) wrapped in a himation, standing to left. In front of him is a bird cage (lower right corner with tail of bird). P 20074 depicts a youth (wreathed head, left side of chest) to right, probably standing frontally. At the far right, part of another figure (drapery) and between the two is a pair of halt&U+0113;res hanging on the wall. Relief contour. Dilute glaze: bird. Red: wreath; strings of halt&U+0113;res.

The clay and glaze are sufficiently similar that the two fragments should come from the same cup, but from different sides.

The Colmar Painter (ARV2 355, 50: P 17531; 353, 14: P 20074).
