Two non-joining fragments, a of lip with stub of handle. Reserved line on inside just below rim. Surface slightly abraded on figure of youth. Max. dim. a) 0.095, b) 0.036; est. diam. of rim 0.165. R. S. Young, Hesperia 20, 1951, pl. 79:3.
Fragment a (illustrated) shows a youth (legs missing from the knees down) standing to right, his right arm outstretched, his hand holding something; in his left hand is a spear or javelin. He is nude except for a cloak over his left shoulder. Before him is part of another figure (right hand reaching up). Behind the youth, encircled palmette and tendril at handle. Fragment b shows a similar palmette. Relief contour.
The object held by the youth in his right hand is probably a strigil. Cf. especially one youth on the outside of the cup in Erlangen by the Koropi Painter (ARV2 949, 18).
The Koropi Painter (ARV2 949, 16).
