Floor fragment with stem and base fillet. Incised line at top and bottom of fillet. Max. dim. 0.041.

I, nude male (lower part of torso, start of thighs, part of each arm) to right with arms outstretched. Preliminary sketch. Relief contour.

The Euergides Painter [Beazley during his visit to the Agora in summer 1953; not in ARV2 ]. Although little remains on 1578 to confirm an attribution, the drawing of the hip and the sharp angle where the back joins the buttock recall these by the painter: the youths on London, B.M. GR 1920.6--13.1 (ARV2 88, 1; Addenda 170); Herakles on Leipzig T.3372 (ARV2 89,23; Paralip. 330, 22; Addenda 170); the youths on London, B.M. E 21 (ARV2 91, 49); and Herakles on Tampa, Fla., ex Maplewood, N.J., Noble (Paralip. 330; Addenda 171).

The figure may be a jumper. Cf. the right-hand one on one side of New York, M.M.A. 09.221.47 by the Euergides Painter (ARV2 91, 52; Addenda 171).
