Shoulder fragment with start of neck. Glaze pitted in places. Max. dim. 0.141. C. Clairmont, Das Parisurteil in der antiken Kunst, Zurich 1951, p. 53, cat. no. K 159, pl. 34:a.

The Judgment of Paris(?). At the left are the tips of the arms, the crosspiece, and the start of the strings of Paris' lyre; then there is the capital and the top of the shaft of a Doric column. Next comes Hermes (top of wreathed head, petasos hanging down his back, and at the far right the tip and part of the shaft of his kerykeion) to left, one arm (area around elbow) outstretched. Above, chain of upright encircled palmettes and lotuses ending just beyond Hermes, indicating that he stood at the far right of the composition. Preliminary sketch. Dilute glaze: ties of petasos.

For the subject, see I. Raab, Zu den Darstellungen des Parisurteils in der griechischen Kunst, Frankfurt-am-Main 1972. 600 is not included in the discussion part of this study (pp. 187--188), because so little of the composition remains. See also LIMC VII, 1994, pp. 176--188, s.v. Paridis Iudicium (A. Kossatz-Deissmann).
