Wall fragment. Glaze cracked near top. Max. dim. 0.083.

Nike (middle of body dressed in a peplos, arms) flying to left, holding something (shaft), probably a torch, in her right hand. At the left, lower right corner of a box held by someone (fingers) who faces her. Preliminary sketch. Dilute glaze: transverse lines on object; decoration on box; a few drapery folds.

What remains on 630 bears some resemblance to the style of the Kadmos Painter. For the drapery, compare that of the woman holding the hydria on her head on Munich 2360 (ARV2 1186, 30; Addenda 341; LIMC V, 1990, p. 128, no. 2916, pl. 120, s.v. Herakles). For the hand with the fleshy thumb, cf. Athena on the same vase and the woman with a torch on Bologna 303 (ARV2 1184, 6; Paralip. 460, 6; Addenda 341).
