ΤΙΤΛΟΣ:   Χάλκινη Σπαρτιατική ασπίδα -λάφυρο από τη μάχη της Πύλου 425 π.Χ.

Description:   Inscribed.
Found largely complete, but very much bent and chipped.
An oval shield with a narrow rim ornamented with a fine multiple guilloche pattern repousse.
The central part of the shield was apparently undecorated, but bore an inscription in letters made by small punches.

Context:   Filling of cistern system on Kolonos Agoraios, south of the Temple of Hephaistos.
