Title: | Grave Stone Fragment
Category: | Inscriptions
Description: | Inscribed fragment used as a moulding. Broken at both sides and at back. The bottom is preserved and has a smooth band at the edge (anathyrosis?). The top has a narrow fascia, next the inscribed surface; behind that is a curved cutting running the length of the fragment. The block therefore in its re-used form made no used of the inscription, which was hidden on the upper surface of the moulding; the curved surface and the fascia above constituted a cavetto. The surface of the inscription is roughly finished and shows distinct pick marks. Three letters and part of a fourth remain. Pentelic marble.
