Description: | Fragment of neck of unglazed amphora, part of rim preserved, plain, with a well marked groove and ridge below it. Additional fragments added Nov 1948 give the amphora complete from lip to shoulder. Plain lip, slightly convex in profile, set off from neck by ridge and groove. Arched handles. Upper body incurved sharply from shoulder. Graffito around outside: <graphic> Reddish-buff micaceous clay with traces of light buff slip. Cf. P 28446. | |
