Title:   Red Figure Skyphos Fragment: Type B
Category:   Pottery
Description:   The fragment, mended from three pieces, preserves the side of the cup from the rim to a point, below a wheel-run scraped groove, where the wall begins to thicken toward the foot. For the shape cf. Beazley's kantharos' form C (Pfuhl (1923), fig. 453 and Caskey, fig. 119). The fragment shows a sharp horizontal and vertical curve.
Fleeing youth; missing, the boy's outstretched left arm, and both feet. He runs to the right, but looks back over his shoulder. His cloak, thrown over his left arm, floats behind him. For the type (Ganymede?) cf. CVA Oxford, 1, pl. 15:5-6.
Relief contours for features, back of neck, and thighs; interior drawing in relief lines, with dilute glaze for the muscles. Reserved hair line; profile eye without upper eyelid stroke. The reserved surfaces seem to have been rubbed with pink. Good black glaze inside and out, peeled off just above and below the figure's left arm.
Context:   Well, mouth, just west of poros water channel.
