Title:   Amphora with Incised Decoration

Description:   Intact, save for small chip from lip. Ring foot and tall body forming a continuous reverse curve with the neck and flaring at the lip. Band handles, rim to shoulder. A shallow pouring channel or spout on one side of the rim; finger depressions at the base of the handles. Incised decoration of two lines and two rows of dots at the level of the handle attachments; the same below the neck. The shoulder divided on the front into two panels by similar lines and dot rows, running vertically. In the panels, corners and steps, outlined with dots. At the back, the same ornament, but not confined in panels; also at the back, a zigzag above the handle attachment line. On the neck, front, a double dotted zigzag; on the back, corners outlined with dots. A double wavy line below the lip and double rows of dots on the rim by the handle attachments. Double dotted zigzags on the handles.
Handmade of very micaceous red clay with white grits.
