Title:   Black Figure Lekythos Fragments

Description:   Mended from many fragments; most of the neck and many pieces from the sides and shoulder missing. In the center of the figured scene, two warriors fighting, the one to the right kneeling (as on P 1357). To the right of them a third warrior(?), turning away from the scene. To the left, a youth, with cloak wrapped over bent left arm. Cf. the spectators on P 1354. Of the youth on the shoulder of the vase, only the feet and the extended arm, wrapped in a cloak, remain; a lion is being attacked by the youth.
Incision for interior details; added red for fillets, stripes and dots on garments, borders and dots on shields.
Context:   Rectangular rockcut shaft.
