Title:   Kantharos: West Slope

Description:   One handle and some of lip, body and foot missing; restored in plaster. Shape as P 16241 (ΕΕ 417), but the upper wall rather more drawn in. Plain lip; a single scraped groove below it. On upper part of body two dolphins sporting on a conventionalized sea.
Dull black glaze.
ADDENDA P 16241: Shape as P 16239 (ΕΕ 415), but smaller; one groove below the lip scraped, the other not. P 16239: Shape as P 16238 (ΕΕ 414). P 16238: More or less cylindrical body, narrowing slightly toward top. Profiled ring foot. Plain rim, rounded, a scraped groove below it outside; a second scraped groove at the line of the lower handle attachments. Vertical band handles.
Context:   Cistern, lower fill.
