Title:   Black Glaze Kantharos

Description:   One handle and small fragments of rim and walls missing. A deep pear-shaped cup on a neat ring foot, rounded without, broad beneath. Plain rim slightly flaring. Handles round in section, attached at rim and lower wall, arching well above rim. At either side, where the handles are attached, the walls have been carefully pinched in, so that the mouth is a two-lobed oval which might serve either for drinking or for pouring.
Excellent black glaze inside and out, the underside reserved; a scraped line at junction of foot and wall outside. Pinkish clay, fairly substantial fabric.
Context:   Well, middle fill, containers 11-25.
