Title:   Lekanis

Description:   Many fragments mended to make four non-joining fragments of lekanis and four of lid. Lekanis restored in plaster. Ring foot, deep rounded body flaring at lip which is flanged inside; horizontal band handles, only one preserved, with out-turned ends. One glaze band outside; two bands inside with space between filled with white. Glaze ring at center of floor and on rim. Handle of four non-joining fragments (e-h) two of which are rim pieces. Convex lid with down-curved edge. A glaze band with white border around the edge.
Orange-pink slightly gritty clay, gray at core. Glaze dull black on interior bands, red to brown on exterior and on lid.
ADDENDA: Household lekanis, non Attic (SIR).
Context:   West Terrace, south end, early fill, layer IV. Context ca. 420-390 B.C.
