Title:   Pithos Fragment

Description:   Shoulder, neck and rim fragment. Wide rounded shoulder and straight neck slightly tilted outward; projecting rim, flat on top. At junction of shoulder and neck, a raised ridge, vertically and diagonally grooved in imitation of cable pattern. Above this, at base of neck, impressed circles apparently in various patterns; zigzag and crenellations are recognizable. At one side the pattern is double; a wavy line above the pattern at the base of the neck. In places on the neck, shallow vertical zigzags or wavy lines incised while the clay was soft.
Thick fabric of coarse pink clay containing fairly coarse gravel.
