Title:   Bowl with Paint Decoration

Description:   Fragmentary; the profile complete. Restored in plaster. Deep bowl on high ring foot; steep sides; nearly vertical rim; foot grooved underneath. Decoration in terracotta paint and white, with incision. Above the foot, a band of dots separated by pairs of bars, between grooves. The wall covered with an elaborate pattern of bushes, leaves and flowers, with birds perched in the bushes. The birds, and some of the leaves, done by incision. The top of the decoration is toward the base of the bowl.
Dull red glaze, very badly peeled.
Conservation Status:   Finished
Context:   Red late Roman fill over west drain wall.
