Title:   Red Figure Cup Fragment: Inscribed

Description:   Many pieces; many not joining. About half of the rim and walls preserved, fragmentary; much of the medallion, half of one handle, and a stub. The stem broken off.
Exterior: On either side, four youths, left: dancers; two flautists; one carrying a phiale and a staff. The last named wears a plain narrow fillet with a pointed projection over the forehead. All the others, so far as preserved, wear broad fillets wrapped one and one-half times around the head, each end looped up, then hanging below, at either side. All are nude save for a cloak thrown over arm or shoulder.
Interior: A pair of dancers, right. Plain reserved exergue; maeander border, broken by cross squares, white dots in the corners. These two wear, in addition to the looped fillet a pair of leafy sprays tied on over the brow by ribbons, the end of which flutter behind; spray (on left hand figure only preserved) and ribbons, on both, in white now faded. Above the head of the left-hand figure: K (white); Α or Λ well to the right, at the broken edge. A second K in front of the left hand man. Partial relief contour.
