Title:   Black Figure Vessel Fragments

Description:   Four fragments from the shoulder and wall of a large closed pot. Unglazed inside. On the upper shoulder, linked buds below tongues. Zeus(?) in a chariot, right, and a veiled woman; at left the tip of the hair and the drapery of another figure. Behind the team, Apollo with cithara. On a small fragment, the nose and topknot of one of the horses, and part of another(?). Red for the god's beard, eyebrow, eyeball and fillet; white for the woman's face; red for drapery borders and the horse's topknot. Very careful incision.
ADDENDA Also with these, twelve additional fragments believed by the mender to belong. Cf. also P 17779. Preserved are two different lower borders of linked buds; the wheel of a chariot right, and the foot of one mounting; the rail of a chariot (not the same as on a)), and part of a figure; drapery fragments; and a hand holding a chariot rail.
Red borders on the drapery, and red folds. Decoration also of groups of white dots and incised crosses.
