Description: | A small fragment showing the vertically moulded lip of a straight-sided bowl or cup and part of the scene runing in a frieze around its main zone. On the left, the hand of a figure holding a sword and almost entirely wrapped in blowing drapery. The knee of this figure may possibly appear at the lower left of the fragment. In the center, an armed man faces right, dressed in chiton and cuirass and holding a buckler on his left arm. Below him, a falling figure. At the right, a crudely drawn figure is runing right, sword in hand. Masks hang in the field from the upper moulding. Buff clay; thin red wash inside and out. Cf. P 3152: same mold (same vase?). | |
