Title: | Bowl Fragment with Relief Decoration
Category: | Pottery | |
Description: | Broken all around; from curved side of a Western Sigillata bowl. Three figures preserved, with part of a fourth at the right, and a bit of some decoration at the left. From left: a youth, dancing right, a light staff over his left shoulder, a cloak falling from his arm. Next, a group of two women, the first, standing right, draped, looks back and down towards his right foot, raised to her outstretched hand, as if she is fastening a sandal. Her left arm, extended to give her balance, frames the head of the second figure, seated right, partly draped. She holds her hair extended as if drying it. Fine pinkish-buff clay. Excellent glaze.
Context: | Second layer below cobble stones at west end of E-W Street.
