ΤΙΤΛΟΣ:   Ραμφόστομη πρόχους με χταπόδι και δελφίνια 1400 - 1300 π.Χ.

Description:   Jug with Beaked Spout. Fragments of wall and spout missing; mended from many pieces. Broad ovoid body; low raised base. Narrow neck concave in profile, set off from the shoulder by a pronounced ridge. Elongated spout-mouth with plain rim, the spout tapering towards the narrow pouring end. Band handle from rim, broad and with a median rib which ends in a blunt point projecting from the lower attachment. A small hole is pierced through from below this point to the inner face of the handle; for hanging? Spout, neck and handle glazed; the foot glazed solid beneath a narrow stripe. Below the shoulder ridge, ring of oval dots. Decoration covering the body: at front, beneath spout, a large cuttlefish/octopus facing; the eyes reserved, with circular pupil-dots. Four long stylized tentacles curl down from the crown, on either side; scattered dot and curlique filling ornament. High on the body on either side, a dolphin-like fish, facing towards the cuttlefish/octopus; the eye reserved with circular pupil dot; double-stroke tails.
Red-buff clay; smooth light buff slip; red to light brown glaze, badly worn.
