Title:   Three-Handled Jar

Description:   Wall fragments and chips of rim missing; mended from many pieces. Short thick body, relatively thick foot flat beneath but showing wheel marks. Broad mouth, flat lip, vertical ribbon handles, double-grooved. Mouth glazed inside; on the lip, wavy zigzag between stripes; broad band on neck and narrow band at top of shoulder. On the handles, saw-tooth between vertical stripes which loop around the lower attachments. Shoulder zone, lily pattern. In two panels, two plants each, consecutive; in the third panel, two plants opposed, with an ivy spray between; all quadruple-stemmed. Lower body banded; three narrow bands, one broad and four narrow; then glazed solid to base.
Buff clay; dark brown glaze.
Context:   Mycenaean chamber tomb at north side of Temple of Ares. Pots #18-19.
