Title:   Pithos Fragment

Description:   One group of seven joining fragments plus another of four preserve about half the rim and neck; restored in plaster. Broad flat rim projecting toward the outside; its outer edge is moulded as Doric hawksbeak. Slightly concave neck, opening out rapidly into body. Black glaze on interior of neck, and apparently once also on flat upper surface of rim, but now almost completely worn away. Exterior reserved.
Fabric yellow-buff on surfaces, reddish-buff at interior.
Context:   Well, boxes 15-20. Context ca. 460-440 B.C.
