Title:   Black Figure Amphora Fragment

Description:   Part of upper wall and neck and one handle preserved; mended from many pieces.
Figured panel on front and back.
A) At center, dancing Satyr facing left; upper part preserved. Facing him from either side two female figures; of the one at left, head only remains; of the other at right, head and shoulders. Tree behind the figures. Band of heart-shaped leaves at top of panel.
B) Bearded draped male figure with a spear right; preserved to shoulders. Female figure facing him; only a part of the face preserved. Heart-shaped leaves above.
Added red for fillets and beards; white for women's flesh and for a row of dots (faded) on the cloak of the male figure on face B.
Glaze rather dull. Unglazed inside.
Context:   Cut at north end of terrace of Stoa of Attalos, from pit in bedrock at S.E. corner.
