Title:   Red Figure Calyx Krater Fragment

Description:   Mended from two pieces. Fragment from near the top of the wall of a large krater, depicts woman facing right, wearing chiton, himation, sphendone and wreath. The tip of her piled hair and her figure below the waist are missing. In the field to the left a large hand, belonging to another figure. Relief contours save for the woman's left shoulder. Her hair, beneath the headdress, is covered with small dots of added black glaze. A reserved line at the top of the piece.
Fine black glaze inside and out.

Context:   Near mouth of late well to west of Dörpfeld's 'Stoa Basileios', probably fallen from earth which here overlies bedrock.
