Title:   Black Figure Pyxis Lid

Description:   Mended from several pieces. Knob broken away; pieces from rim missing. Downturned rim with two grooves in its upper half. Two reserved circles around base of knob; reserved are also the two grooves of the downturned rim and its lower edge. Underside of lid reserved. Flaming altar; from the left a man approaches it. He has a petasos, winged boots and sword and holds a torch(?) in his left arm. On the other side a rider wearing boots. Then a woman, right, extending her left arm over a missing object from which sprays emerge. She wears a chiton and a himation; then a man driving an animal (sheep?) to another flaming altar. Branches in the background. No incision. Rough style.
Pink clay. White ground.
Context:   Outside N.W. corner of Civic Offices, strosis 11, over gravel of Drain 5.
