Title:   Red Figure Lekanis Lid Fragments

Description:   a) The larger fragment comes from near the center: it shows on one corner part of the pattern (glaze band bordered by large dots in reserved area) surrounding the handle. It preserves otherwise the upper part of a wing, summarily rendered, and fragment of surface to which it was attached.
b) The smaller fragment is mostly covered by part of a face in profile, left. Preserved: inner end of eyebrow, outline of nostril, mouth and chin, hair bordering face and upper end of wing(?). Mouth rendered by dot of glaze set in from edge, hair by oblique black glaze stripe with brown glaze thread coiled back and forth down its length. Slack chin line.
Attic clay. Glaze very light-colored (badly fired).
