Title:   Black Glaze Hydria Fragment

Description:   Single fragment preserving neck, handle, and part of rim and shoulder of a large household oinochoe [original shape identification]. Wide neck, slightly concave in profile; round mouth; broad projecting rim sloping downwards; rolled handle from below rim to shoulder; irregular ridge around shoulder just below neck.
Rather soft pinkish-buff clay with impurities. Glazed outside and inside (so far as preserved) with a dull mottled red glaze wash.
Context:   Well to north of Nymphaeum, box 49.
