Title:   Black Figure Lekythos

Description:   Neck broken and repaired; handle missing. Bell mouth; continuous curve, top of neck to edge of shoulder; plain disk foot. Two reserved lines below picture; added red and white; branches in field.
This is the characteristic general type for the large proportion of the lekythoi from this group. Bell mouth with variations in height and spread; lip usually reserved, occasionally glazed. Disk foot of varying thickness; below picture either one or two reserved lines. Added colors more or less well preserved. Only substantial variations are noted in the following descriptions.
Shoulder: strokes above rays.
Scene: two warriors crouching to either side of gaming board; Athena between; at right, woman running away.
Context:   Well beneath Stoa gutter.
