Description: | Mouth, neck, handle, most of shoulder and wall missing. General type as P 24316 (ΣΑ 2526): This is the characteristic general type for the large proportion of the lekythoi from this group. Bell mouth with variations in height and spread; lip usually reserved, occasionally glazed. Disk foot of varying thickness; below picture either one or two reserved lines. Added colors more or less well preserved. Only substantial variations are noted in the following descriptions. Shoulder: strokes above rays. Scene: Peleus right embracing Thetis (parts of both figures missing); on each side, a Nereid running away (top of head and one leg of the left hand Nereid only preserved; head and left shoulder of the right one missing). | |
