Title:   Black Figure Amphora

Description:   Mended from several pieces; both handles, small fragments from walls, chips from mouth and foot missing. Restored in plaster.
Pomegranate net above the picture. Rays around the base.
A) Dionysos between two dancing Satyrs. The god wears chiton, himation and wreath and holds the cornucopia. Both Satyrs wear amulets around their necks.
B) Maenad on horseback right between two dancing(?) Satyrs. She wears fillet and a tidy garment like a bathing dress. The one Satyr, on the right, wears fillet and amulet.
Much use of red and white.
Buff-pinkish clay. Dull thin glaze much worn at places.
Context:   Well in Stoa Shop III.
