Title:   Red Figure Amphora

Description:   Horse-head panel type. Mended from many fragments and restored in plaster. Swelling body with greatest diameter above center. Cylindrical vertical handles neck to shoulder. Heavy flat-topped rim. Body covered with thin black glaze save for reserved panels front and back on shoulders. Below panels, around center of pot runs a double band of applied purple. Good glaze inside for 0.065m. below rim. In each panel, a horse head in profile right, framed by a narrow thin glaze stripe close to the edge of the black. Mane and forelock in applied purple. Interior details (eye, bridle, etc.) are carefully drawn with incision.
