Title:   Plate Fragments: Stamped

Description:   Much broken; nine fragments, making up to seven, preserved from a very large plate. Rounded rim, low ring base. At the center, within two circular grooves, are stamped two male heads, left. The head on the right is complete save for the back of the neck; of the one on the left, only the nose and the lower part of the face and neck at front are preserved. Both are from the same stamp.
Hard pinkish to buff clay; thin orange glaze, damaged by fire.
Late Roman B Ware.
Notes:   Another rim fragment, non-joining, from nearby disturbed fill.
Context:   Heavily burnt area; last half of 6th. c. A.D.
