Title:   Plate Fragments: Gray Ware

Description:   Four fragments, making up to two, of a large flat plate with upturned rim. No trace of foot or base; low rim curving up gently from flat bottom.
Fine gray clay; heavy black glaze over all.
ADDENDA Two small rim fragments removed on 29 July 1968 by HSR for refiring experiment. Back on 13 August 1973. Refired to 1000 degrees centigrade in oxidizing atmosphere and cooled in oxidizing atmosphere. The original gray clay has been changed to a color almost approximating that of normal red Pergamene, while the glaze (at least on the exterior) has been changed to a color only slightly darker than that usual in red Pergamene.
