Title:   Amphora: West Slope

Description:   Foot, one-third of body, one handle as far up as arch, and part of upper neck and rim, preserved. Partly restored, with additional 6 non-joining fragments. Flaring foot with groove in outer edge; angular profile with scraped groove just above angle. Flaring, moulded rim; double rope handles flanked by nipples at top, with lump of clay with thumb print at bottom.
On shoulder, incised pattern: central panel of decreasing rectangles flanked by panels of checkerboard and then panels of crosshatching; alternate squares of checkerboard filled in white. Above, zig-zag line with white dots above and below. Handle attachments surrounded by broad tan stripe. White loops hang from lower handle attachments. At top of neck, between two scraped grooves, pseudo bead and reel with white reel. Below, trace of spearhead necklace: double incised band with white paint, incised zig-zag below.
Shiny red glaze inside and out.
