Title:   Brazier Lug: Mask

Description:   Near-complete lug (chipped around edges), with part of rim.
Rim profile: rim with sloping flange and a lower moulding bearing imprint of rim of the missing cylindrical stand (W. 0.11) or three large 'dentils' in relief. Lower rim-moulding notched, main flange bears a row of large double-outline egg motifs, impressed. A squarish lug on top of rim and flange, tilted obliquely; moulded front, relief Π-shaped edge (grooved) on back. Front of lug: relief satyr mask, with beard forming top of a solid sloping lug on interior of vessel; mask has arched outline set on a square relief panel, with 'K' and 'Ξ' in relief at top corners.
Coarse gritty red ware, fired yellowish to gray at surface. Local? Import? Residual in early Roman context.
