Title:   Potter's Test Piece

Description:   Two joining fragments preserving portion of test piece, including two edges that meet at apex; part of draw hole preserved on lower fragment. Piece cut from upper body of medium size closed vessel (oinochoe?). Paint on interior and exterior irregularly applied, much worn, and with a tendency to flake where thickest. Paint fired black. There are enough traces of paint on exterior to indicate that much, if not all of exterior, was completely painted. Interior painted solidly, except perhaps for upper part of fragment. Substantial traces of paint on both edges and on draw hole edge.
Clay body and surfaces where paint has peeled off fired between light brown and pink 7.5 YR 6/4-7/4.
