Title:   Potter's Test Piece

Description:   Single fragment preserving portion of test piece, including almost one-third of draw hole. Piece cut from the shoulder of a large closed vessel (rather than from the body of an open pot). Edge, opposite draw hole, also preserved. Exterior reserved, except perhaps for minute dribbles of paint. Interior painted with vertically and horizontally intersecting lines. Paint extends over one edge and one side of draw hole.
Clay core fired light gray, in the range of 7.5YR 7/2-6/2, N7/-N6/. Reserved exterior surface fired close to pink 7.5YR 7/4. Piece removed from kiln during early stages of re-oxidization.
